About

Picture
I am a Ph.D. candidate in political theory at Yale University and a 2023-2024 Charlotte W. Newcombe Fellow. My dissertation draws on theories of political consciousness and action, as well as feminist critiques of domination and power. It explores how understandings of gendered inequity and injustice shape experiences within intimate relationships, as well as the desire to transform one's sense of responsibility within them.

I've taught introductory political philosophy and gender studies in "Gender, Justice, Power, and Institutions" (in Yale's Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program) and "Introduction to Political Philosophy," as well as "The Politics of The Wire: HBO's Portrayal of American Cities." With nearly a decade of experience in university writing centers, I have worked with many students from historically underrepresented backgrounds in their first year of college, as well as on their independent senior research projects. I have also trained undergraduate tutors.

I hold an A.B. summa cum laude in Religion from Princeton University, with certificates in Humanistic Studies and Creative Writing.

"On Feminist Killjoys"
Sara Ahmed in conversation with Isabelle Laurenzi

In this free online event, I was in conversation with Sara Ahmed, a feminist writer and independent scholar whose work has profoundly influenced me. We talked about her most recent book The Feminist Killjoy Handbook, as well as her work more broadly.

This event was graciously hosted by The Philosopher, a UK-based journal for public-facing philosophy with a robust weekly online event series.
